How to Support Art

SupportArt

If you want to really, really support your favorite artist, be they a blogger, author, doodler or mime, the best way to do that is to share their work. Tweet links to their work. Share their work on Facebook. Hit them up with a shiny new +1. Reblog it on Tumblr. Post it in MySpace if that’s what you have. Tell your friends. Send emails. Hire a skywriter to post their url across the noon-day sun. This one small step, this one small encouragement, can help them grow. This little bit of work on your part can make the hours and hours of work they’ve put their soul into seem so much more for them.

Sure, you can buy their work. Sure you can donate to their site. Sure you can order them an unlimited supply of pizza rolls from Amazon.

You can do all of these things, and they will thank you with more fervor than you can imagine.

But sharing their art. Spreading their work to a larger audience and more potential buyers and suppliers of pizza rolls… that… that will mean everything to them.

I know it would for me.
