Late Night Rambling

Sunday at midnight. It has a certain level of romantic charm to it, doesn’t it. I’m a night owl by nature. If the stories my parents tell are to be believed, I’ve been an insomniac since I was a toddler. I like the dark parts of the night, when the world is quiet and the moon is dancing across the sky in all its magnificent beauty. Who doesn’t? Well, besides the people that decided the world should operate 8-5? I guess it made sense before Edison stole the invention of the light bulb from someone smarter than himself. People have terrible night vision. Back when we had to hunt mammoths for food, instead of science, we needed the sun to guide our pointy rocks. Then, of course, we discovered food growing from the ground and everything went to shit. Insomnia is a bitch. I don’t even know why I’m writing this, other than a perverse need to express my every thought on a public forum. I just can’t seem to relax tonight. If you’re following along with the home game, I did write ~5000 words of SK5 this weekend. That’s a pretty good number of words. I’m probably going to scrap them all, of course, but they call that the writing process and assure me it is completely normal. We’ll see. I really like what I’ve got, but much like the first three drafts of SK4, it just isn’t working. It’s probably better that I’m aware of this now, then three weeks before my publication date. Anyway, I’m going to try to get some sleep. Fortunately, I don’t have to work in the morning– President’s Day–and I’d like to be somewhat productive tomorrow. Who knows, maybe these zombies will write themselves… Did I say zombies? I meant…. um… not-zombies? Damn…
