Why I’m Not Going to Call My Father Today

I’m not going to call my dad today. I’ll try to call him tomorrow, but I have 3 siblings, and two of them have kids. I’ll let them keep the phone lines open so that my Dad can be Papa Jerry today and talk to all the rest of the schmucks in my family. I do need to call my dad. I haven’t talked to him since I got back from Montana, and that’s way too long to go without calling him. It’s actually bothering me how easy it’s gotten for me to go long stretches without talking to him. Once upon a time, I couldn’t go more than a few days without talking to my dad. Last time it seemed easy for me to go weeks without calling was when I was in a bad way eight years ago. I guess, in some ways, I’m in a bad way now.

I wonder what that’s all about.

I know a lot of my reader’s came here expecting me to write a nice, awesome, squishy post about my dad because it’s Father’s Day.

I would, but I’ve written so many of those posts, and I don’t want to get too repetitive.

So, if you want to read something nice and squishy about my dad, you can start with some of these:

Last Year’s Father’s Day Post

What Father’s Are For

This Section from a Book I’ll Never Finish

This Birthday Doodle I did once.

Or you can just search the archives for “Dad”

But, you don’t have to take my word for it. You can get a sense of the awesome with his own words of wisdom.

Happy Father’s Day.
