Life is a collection of moments.

When you stop and think about each individual moment in itself, you’ll see that every moment is a profound experience. Given it as the only moment you’ve experienced, a paper cut can be devastating, and red crayon can be the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen.

Its hard, though, to separate those moments, because we’re not meant to dwell on the little things. What defines us, what makes us who we are, is the entire collection of those moments. The essence of being is taking for granted all the little moments that make up everything else. Its sad that in doing so we loose sight of how amazing those moments can be. I think that’s why its important to try to look back on life and appreciate the simple moments that make us who we are, as a reminder to enjoy them.

My Simple Moments:

  • Receiving the first good, clean shot of the season. Its that first hit that shakes the cobwebs off and gets you back into fighting form.
  • Giving the first good, clean shot of the season. That’s the one that reminds you that you can do this.
  • The first sip of a cup of tea when its actually still too hot to drink but you want it anyway.
  • The couple of seconds of awkward silence before a huge eruption of laughter from a friend’s very inappropriate sense of humor.
  • When you have a song pop up in your head and get stuck there, then you turn on the radio and its playing.
  • Discovering a new and interesting hashtag game on twitter.
  • Getting a phone call when you are really bored.
  • Sitting at your desk starting to feel hungry and your roommate just brings you food.
  • When you just have to take a moment and stare at someone to figure out if they’re joking or mentally disabled.
  • Each morning when the Google Reader app on my phone syncs and has 20 new posts for me to read.

What are some of the moments you find joy in?
