#Reverb10 – Making a Plan

Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

I’ve spent some time today reading other Reverb10 writers’ takes on what this question was asking. Life without Pants took it a little more abstract than others. He tends to do that, though. You can’t blame him really, he doesn’t wear pants. That tends to lead to free thinking. Enjoy the Journey was on the opposite end of the extreme, quite literally discussion of how she made a quilt for herself. For some reason, a lot of Reverb10 participants chose to write about how hard it is to narrow down what it means to “make” something.

For a while now, I’ve followed Just My Two Copper, which is a WoW Gold making blog. The writer Markco has always had a way of putting some pretty complex ideas in a way that just makes sense for me. Recently, Markco has started writing a second blog, The Traffic Blogger. Markco inspired a lot of bloggers in the WoW community to start up, and Traffic Blogger was created as a way to help new bloggers succeed. Like JMTC, Traffic Blogger put some familiar complicated blogging concepts in a way that just made sense to me.

A couple of days ago, Markco wrote a post about Applying Structure to your Online Business. I’ve never been very good at things like structure, organization, or planning. Its pretty much the anathema to how I work. In fact, if you look at my desk right now, you’d see a bunch of stacks of various things strewn all about. Nothing really has any order to it at all.

Markco gives good advice, and at least in my virtual mogul career, he’s never steered me wrong. Today’s prompt combined with his recent article really seemed like the universe was trying to tell me something, so I decided I would make something new for myself.

I decided to make a plan.

I sat down today and spent a bit of time determining exactly what I wanted from my blog, and what I wanted out of life. I set goals for myself. Then, the most important and difficult step, I set a schedule for writing.

Here’s hoping that I can keep it up!
